“I can see a divine being… a God.” Exclaimed Divya “Amazing, amazing… he is bare-bodied, has a dark, brown body with a golden glow… he is wearing a lungi, it looks as if woven from silver.”
“Wonderful,” I compliment Divya, then I command – “Take his Lungi off.”
“What???!!!” protested Divya, “How can I take God’s lungi off?”
“Do it!” I insist.
Divya whipped God’s lungi off.
“What do you see?” I asked.
“Light, it is all Light.”
“Irreverence is the reverence of the modern mind.” As Celia & I sometimes say. But cross-questioning God is not modern at all. In fact it is a pillar of The Sacred. For only one willing to step beyond life can approach The Sacred. And that is usually reserved for those desperate or irreverent enough.
Irreverence can like in Divya’s case catapult us into fresh insight and direct divine encounter. For by doing so, Divya went once again, beyond a human level encounter to a cosmic encounter. And she arrived at a truth that behind Humanoid forms of God lie the cosmic, impossible, amazing, glorious.
We are irreverent Gurus. Using irreverence as a way to uncover the real soul of the spiritual…
"Socrates, philosophers like The Cynics, Tantrics use Ir+reverence as a critical tool in exploring the truth..."
That said, there is irreverence & irreverence. There is irreverence that arrives from deep friendship, and irreverence that comes from a mind too smugly centered in its cleverness. The first is welcomed. The second too is welcomed, but sometimes slapped down.
Awhile ago, Celia & I were walking on the main road when, I saw a blob of shit and sparkles of aura light. Delightedly my mind said, “The divine… is everywhere.” At which point God butted in with the truism “I am everywhere”.
Precisely when a sarcy voice in me butted in with “In which case, we should raise a Temple of Shit to You…”
"The Moment I uttered the words... perhaps I should raise a Temple of Shit to You, my blood froze..."
The moment the words came out I realized… that I had crossed a line.
There was a silence. Not the usual ones with the warmth of God, where one is encircled by a great loving bear. This was one where I was examined like fly by spider.
Just before I was turned to stone or flame {he has done that rarely to the arrogant}, he spoke with a flat voice. “You will explore shit. See God in Shit.”
And so for the next two weeks I had to examine shit. I had to merge with every lump of dogshit, cowshit, birdshit on the road. Now think of having your head shoved into shit, only here you are covered in it. You can sense it with astral senses. Feel the slime, the stench, and then the great beauty. The auras of shit. The laughter of each blob. The life of bacteria, the rages, hopes, fears, terrors, magnificences. Then the food, see its growth as plant, or trot of animal hoof, the scythe that cuts plants, animals down, the terror, the mouldering of meat, the sweaty armpits of cooks, the food itself doled out merged with the life-force of kitchen helpers, the stuttering flame, the breathing writhing life of a gas cylinder, the maws of children, the mouths filled with cavities, saliva oozing out like pus, the alimentary tract, squeezing and unsqueezing, the feel of food as it was let go by the anus, the pukiness and wonder of it, I understood both the godawful and magnificence of a simple function like eating and elimination… And so today if I were to raise a Temple to Shit, it would be a Temple to Shit.
"For 2 weeks I was knee-deep in shit, examining it in great psychic detail..."
Anyway, you will object, but Tarun & Celia you are rambling. You still have not talked about God’s A**hole. True. We are leading up to it. You need context.
You understand why irreverence is a sacred tool, and why irreverence is rewarded, and why being dumped in shit maybe a blessing, if you can stomach it.
Anyway, I was looking up, and for a painting asked God to pose, Er… reveal himself… He did… like a great blazing whirlpool of force. Scattering light like a Catherine wheel… Beautiful and wow… Then a voice in me, blurted out, looks like an a**hole. As I said it I froze. But this time I did not get my head shoved into shit instead, God showed me his greater being… his anatomy so to speak…
The vision I looked at is the equivalent of a navel. He does have in a very extended way an ‘a**hole, an energy formation that deals with hells, or decompositional pits for the recovery and renewal of consciousness patterns.

Now as we study the image we realise that our knowledge has been greatly extended. The particular God we are talking about is a primal one. Often called The Creator. In relation to this Universe he maybe termed the Renewer. Now we can examine this in great detail.
Question: Do all God's have sub-entities?
God's Answer: Yes. Practically all.
Question: Are each of these sub-entities, independent minds?
God's Answer: Yes.
Question: Are these sub-entities fixed and cannot change function?
God's Answer: No. Shifts can happen though it is a major thing.
Question: Do we encounter sub-entities or God?
God's Answer: You encounter our sub-sub-entities. But this is not unusual. For example: A child will meet a father in a man, a subordinate will meet a Boss, a client will meet a supplier.
Question: Is this why in most religions a God may have many names?
God's Answer: Yes, but also look at the answer above.
Now we can go on delving into God's anatomy... But you get the idea...
Gurus often say I will take you to the Heart of God. We say it too. But equally well, we may take one into Life’s A**hole, because that is the way to freedom and growth.
Love & God,
Tarun & Celia Cherian.
